811 HealthLine 

The provincial 811 HealthLine is a free, confidential telephone line staffed by experienced registered nurses. It is available to residents of Newfoundland and Labrador anytime, day or night. If experiencing a mental health and/or addictions crisis, needing support, or looking for information about health concerns, call 811 or for TTY dial 1-888-709-3555.

Provincial Mental Health and Addictions Systems Navigator

The Provincial Mental Health and Addictions Systems Navigator is a central point of contact for individuals and families throughout the province. The Navigator can:

  • Problem solve to help figure out next steps
  • Discuss options to find the right service
  • Help with making connections to services

Provincial Lifewise Warmline 

The Provincial Lifewise Warmline provides non-emergency, non-crisis telephone support to individuals 16+ years of age. It is anonymous and confidential, and staffed by trained peer supporters, who are also individuals with lived experience of mental illness and addictions. The Warmline is available daily from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. (Midnight) by calling (709) 753-2560 or toll-free at 1-855-753-2560.  

Smokers’ Helpline 1-800-363-5864

The Smokers’ Helpline is a free, confidential service providing information, resources, support and motivational counseling while you are working toward being smoke free.  Connect with us by phone, text, email or Live Chat. To get started, please call or go online at https://www.smokershelp.net/

Kids Help Phone 

Available to young people in English and French, Kids Help Phone offers free, 24/7, confidential support, professional counselling, information and referrals.

Children and youth can connect by:

  • Accessing live support by visiting kidshelphone.ca and clicking “Tap to Chat” from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. (Midnight) daily

Hope for Wellness Help Line

The Hope for Wellness Help Line is a national phone line, available 24/7, to all Indigenous people across Canada, offering immediate mental health counselling and crisis intervention.

Individuals can dial toll-free 1-855-242-3310 or visit the website at www.hopeforwellness.ca and use the chat box to connect with a counsellor online. Phone and chat counselling is available in English and French, and on request, phone counselling is also available in Cree, Ojibway, and Inuktitut.
