Labrador-Grenfell Health is realigning human resources at Labrador Health Centre to focus on the following priorities: COVID-19 testing and pandemic response, cancer care, urgent and emergency services.
If you have an appointment affected by this realignment at Labrador Health Centre, you will be contacted to reschedule your appointment. At this time, walk-in lab service will continue for urgent requisitions only from 8 am – 2:30 pm. There are no changes to cancer care or emergency services.
The COVID-19 pandemic has put increased pressure on health systems around the world. Labrador-Grenfell Health provides health and wellness services to over 35,000 people living in rural and remote communities. In addition to primary and secondary health care needs, COVID-19 cases are rising in the health region and that requires surge capacity for testing.
Another drive-thru COVID-19 testing clinic is scheduled for Thursday, December 30th from 10 am – 6 pm at Bethel Pentecostal Tabernacle, 250 Hamilton River Rd.

A lot of people rely on our skilled and dedicated team in communities across Labrador and the Great Northern Peninsula. Every position is critical, and every employee is valued. This temporary realignment will help us help them focus on the current COVID-19 testing and treatment needs, while ensuring we have a robust team to provide cancer care, urgent and emergency services.”
