Chronic Disease Self-Management Program – Looking for Volunteer Leaders
March 28, 2019 - March 31, 2019
FREE Leader Training Workshop – St. Anthony, Thursday, March 28 – Sunday, March 31, 2019
Do you suffer from a chronic condition? Would you like to help others balance life and long-term health issues? Improving Health: My Way is a Chronic Disease Self-Management program designed by Stanford University and administered by Labrador-Grenfell Health.
This program teaches self-management skills to any adult with a chronic condition and we are currently seeking volunteer leaders for a four-day training workshop in St. Anthony (expenses paid). People who themselves have health condition/s and are able to manage them with medication/s or other therapies, make ideal leaders.
As a leader, you will be responsible for going back into your community and delivering the program. The program meets for 2½ hours once a week for six weeks. Leaders do not need any health care training but do need to be non-judgmental and able to deliver a scripted program to a small group. If you are a health professional, please share this invitation with your clients.
Self-management involves teaching people skills and giving them confidence to manage their health and well-being; it can be a very rewarding experience. Please talk to your clients/family members that may be interested. Feel free to pass on my contact information; phone Catherine @ (709) 454-3333 ext. 7364, or email @ catherine.pilgrim@lghealth.ca for more information or click on this link for details.
