Community Health Nursing services for school-age children are provided at an individual level and through population health promotion activities which support a comprehensive school health approach as described in the Joint Consortium on School Health.
Community Health Nurses work in partnership with schools and other health professionals to support and promote the health and wellbeing of the school population as a whole. They provide services which include: routine immunizations in schools, hearing and vision screening, medical and health support information for students and school personnel as needed (e.g. anaphylaxis education), individual student support planning, coordination & participation, health promotion, & collaboration with Healthy Students Healthy Schools Liaison Consultants.
