Mobile Crisis Response is comprised of teams of mental health and addictions clinicians and police officers who are trained to respond together to mental health and/or addictions related calls for service.

The purpose of an MCR team is to deliver crisis intervention services directly to individuals in the community, thereby helping to divert them from emergency departments and the criminal justice system.

In the Labrador-Grenfell Zone, MCR is available seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. in Labrador City/Wabush, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Sheshatshiu and
North West River.

What is a mental health crisis?

A mental health crisis is any situation in which a person’s actions, feelings, and behaviours can lead to:

  • hurting themselves or others, and/or
  • put them at risk of being unable to care for themselves or function in the community in a healthy manner.
