New Patient and Visitor Chairs for the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital (2011)

The Grenfell Foundation and Labrador-Grenfell Health sincerely thank the members of the Curtis Hospital Auxiliary for a donation to the Grenfell Foundation of $30,000 to facilitate the purchase of new chairs for inpatient rooms and waiting areas for clients and visitors to the hospital, particularly on the Medical/Surgical, Maternal/Child Health and Intensive Care Units.  The funds were raised during the 2010-11 fiscal year.

As a result, 79 cherry wood chairs were purchased.  “The new chairs are just beautiful,” notes Sharon Penney, Nursing Site Manager.  “They are durable, supportive and comfortable.  We extend our appreciation to the Auxiliary and the Foundation for the improved comfort of both clients and their families.”

Groups Donate to Grenfell Foundation (2011)

The Grenfell Foundation thanks both the Anglican Church Women of St. Anthony and the Englee Come Home Year Committee for their recent donations to their 2010-11 capital equipment campaign.  At a recent meeting, Evelyn Rumbolt presented a $1000 cheque to Wilfred Rumbolt, Grenfell Foundation Chair, on behalf of the general membership of Anglican Church Women.   At the same meeting, a $2500 donation was presented by Ron Twyne, as a result of the fundraising at the Englee Come Home Year Activities held last summer.

Donor Wall Unveiled (2010)

On Monday, May 17, 2010, a new Grenfell Foundation Donor Wall was unveiled at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony.  The Donor Wall will serve as a means to publicly and visibly thank supporters for their contributions to healthcare in the area.   Mr. Basil Gallant and Mr. Ford Jacobs of Consumer’s Pharmachoice are thanked for sponsoring 100% of the cost of materials.  In addition, Mr. Fred Russell is extended sincere appreciation, as the labour for this project was supplied through the College of the North Atlantic’s carpentry class. Mr. Lebert Ropson of St. Anthony is also thanked for helping with construction and finishing touches.  The Donor Wall stands on the main floor of the hospital, in the area next to the Gift Shop.
